Campbellsville Wrestling Summer Camps

Campbellsville finishes in top 5 on the All-Academic Team

Tigers finish in the top 5 of the NWCA NAIA All Academic Team standings for three consecutive years. This year Campbellsville wrestlers Chris Branam, Kaci Payne and Kyle Norred were individuals named to the team. Athletes must be an All-American or National Qualifier with a 3.2 gpa to be eligible for the team. Overall, the Tigers finished 3rd nationally in the team standings.

The Tigers recently held their annual Awards banquet. Freshman George Sheppard, an All-American, got this year's Outstanding Wrestler Award, while Glen Jackson, a 3x All-American got the MVP Award for this season. read more

CU Tigers at Freestyle/Greco Nationals

April, 14, 2008- Campbellsville University had wrestlers competing at
the 2008 University and Cadet Freestyle/Greco Nationals in Akron, Ohio
this weekend. Johnny Sinchok became the first CU wrestler to place in
this tournament with his 6th place finish in Greco at 79 KG. read more

Campbellsville University Wrestlers Earn Academic Honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Wrestling All-America Scholar-Athletes.

Campbellsville University tops the list with 5 Academic All-Americans. Seniors Kyle Norred, Kaci Payne and Josh Deadrick made the list for the second time, while Senior Chris Branam and Junior Jairus Murton gets the award for the first time. read more...


Campbellsville finishes 14th at National Tournament......

The 2007-08 Tiger Wrestling season ended this weekend in Sioux City, Iowa at the Tyson events center. After starting the season as the pre season # 1 ranked team, expectations where very high for this team. The Tigers could not pull it together in Sioux City and came away with 4 All-Americans and a 14th place team finish. read more...


Campbellsville finishes 3rd in East Region.............

The two 157 pound wrestlers from Campbellsville led the charge for the Tigers at the East Region. David Clemens and George Sheppard both made the Regional Finals and wrestled against each other. Clemens took the match and claimed his 2nd East Region Title. Sheppard, only a freshman, finished as the runner up and also had a win over National Champion Victor Crenshaw in the semi finals. This weight class turned out the be the toughest weight class in the Nation this year. read more...



Campbellsville University is ranked # 5 in the latest NAIA Rankings with 5 CU wrestlers being ranked.

125 James Hicks is ranked 6th
141 Zach Flake is ranked # 1 and he will compete at the EdSouth Tournament this weekend after being out with an injury
157 David Clemens is ranked # 2
174 Johnny Sinchok is # 5
197 Glen Jackson is # 2

Several other CU wrestlers have wins over ranked wrestlers or have beaten higher ranked wrestlers:

At 141 Kyle Norred has a win over # 5 ranked Eric Graham of Missouri Valley At 149 Josh Mason has a win over # 3 ranked Clint Swango of
Oklahoma City.
At 157 George Sheppard has a win over # 3 ranked Brandon Benson of Oklahoma City and has not lost to any NAIA wrestler at 157!
David Clemens beat # 1 ranked Wayne French of Great Falls 20-8 in last years National Semi Finals match.
At 165 Chris Branam has a win over # 8 ranked Trevor Adkisson of Oklahoma City.
At 174 Johnny Sinchok has a win over # 2 ranked John Wilcox of
Oklahoma City.

Campbellsville University takes down # 5 Oklahoma City- A big win by Freshman Josh Mason over # 3 ranked Clint Swango at 149 sparked the Tigers to a 23-9 victory over OKC in Powell Gym on Saturday. A tech Fall by David Clemens at 157 and a win by Freshman Johnny Sinchok over # 3 ranked John Wilcox at 174 helped the Tigers build a big lead and pull away from OKC. After an OKC win at 184, CU finished with 3 straight wins by Glen Jackson, Chad Brown and James Hicks to close out the duel. read more


Campbellsville signs #1 ranked Florida HS wrestler

Wade Coston atop the podium after winning the 152-pound championship in the Kiwanis Invitational at Forrest High School in Jacksonville.
Wade Coston, a senior at Clay High School, has signed a Letter of Intent to attend Campbellsville University in Kentucky.
Coston is currently ranked as the Top Wrestler in the 152-pound class in 1A.
"We are excited about Wade being given the opportunity to do something he loves and receive an education for it," said Hank Coston, Wade's father.
Wade's career record is 126-27 with just two losses this season.

January 18th, Campbellsville, KY- Campbellsville University won 7 of 10 matches against NCAA II Carson Newman College in Powell Gym on Friday night. Bonus point victories by Senior Kyle Norred at 141, Freshman George Sheppard at 157, Freshman Johnny Sinchok at 174 and Senior James Hicks at 125 hleped the Tigers dominate the Eagles and come away with a 30-11 duel meet win at home. The New Gosser Gymnasium nears completion

The floors are almost complete in the 120 X 80 wrestling space. Soon, the mats will cover the floor and the team will move into the new locker rooms and office space.
