Krcmar, Sheppard and Sinchok
compete in Akron.......
April, 14, 2008- Campbellsville University had wrestlers competing
at
the 2008 University and Cadet Freestyle/Greco Nationals in Akron,
Ohio
this weekend. Johnny Sinchok became the first CU wrestler to place
in
this tournament with his 6th place finish in Greco at 79 KG.
Freshman All-American George Sheppard and Redshirt freshman Ben
Krcmar
both competed in Freestyle at 74 KG. George defeated a familiar
face in
his first round match with Willy Mello of Duke university. George
also
defeated Mello in the Virginia AAA state finals in High School.
George
then dropped a 2-0, 1-1 decision to Jake Kerr of Iowa who went
on to
place in the tournament. George then defeated Kevin Cunningham
of Aggie
Wrestling and Pete Puckett of Central Michigan's Chippewa wrestling
club. George then lost to Aaron jenson of Iowa, who went on to
place
3rd. George finished the tournament with a
3-2 record. Krcmar went 0-2
Johnny Sinchok competed at 79 KG and also went 3-2 in Freestyle.
