December 5th-2007

The Tigers took a rare trip out west for a pair of duels with Menlo College and Oklahoma City University this past weekend. In the first match with # 3 ranked Oklahoma City, Marc Macias was able to get a major decision at 141 and True Freshman George Sheppard was able to knock off Brandon Benson, the # 3 ranked wrestler at 157 pounds. George is undefeated against NAIA wrestlers and his only loss was a 10-7 set back to NCAA I ranked Seth Garvin of UTC. Freshman standout Johnny Sinchok almost knocked off # 2 ranked John Wilcox of OKC, but suffered a late takedown to lose the match 5-4. Chad Brown had his match in hand against # 8 ranked Jeremy Johnson of OKC, until a late 5 point headlock got johnson back in the match and helped score the win. Overall, the team wrestled very sluggish and will need to improve with a very tough schedule still remaining to finish out the first half of the season.
