JAMES LINKER WINS TITLE AT OHIO NORTHERN INVITATIONAL

Led by Champion James Linker at 165 pounds, Campbellsville University had seven wrestlers place at the Ohio Northern Invitational this weekend. The Tigers finished with 73 team points and a top 10 team finish.
On his way to the tournament title, James linker had to go through the #1, #5 and #2 seeded wrestlers. He finished the tournament 5-0 with 2 pins. Also making the finals for the Tigers was Freshman standout Tommy Pretty at 133 pounds. Tommy pinned his first three opponents to reach the semi finals and then scored a 6-3 win over the #2 seeded wrestler to reach the finals. Tommy finished 4-1 on the day and 2nd at 133 pounds.
Campbellsville had five other wrestlers place in the tournament. Because of time constraints, if you lost before the semi finals round, the best you could do would be 5th place in this tournament. Johnny Papesh, Bryan Wells, Ruben Perez, Josh Ashbrook, Phillip Oudhuis and Chad Brown all lost in the quarter final round. Papesh, Wells and Oudhuis looked impressive fighting back into the 5th place matches. Chad Brown finished in 8th place. After losing in the 1st round of action, Sophomore Tyler Voth fought all the way back for 7th place and had a good tournament, going 5-2 with 2 pins and a major decision on the day.
